Forest Hopes Cut Down By Blues
Gameweek eight saw a managerial sacking in record time and late goals aplenty.
Forest Hopes Cut Down By Blues
Nottingham Forest extended their poor run with a 3-0 loss to Chelsea at the City Ground in Saturday's early kick-off. The visitors opened the scoring as Josh Acheampong cushioned a header in for 1-0 on 49 minutes and the lead doubled when Pedro Neto's free kick went in to the net just three minutes later. The gloss on the win was added in the 84th minute as Reece James fired in from close range but the Blues afternoon did have a dent with the dismissal of Malo Gusto in the 87th minute. However, the story of the day came after the match as Ange Postecoglou was sacked as Forest manager less than 30 mins after the final whistle.

Mateta's Matchball As Cherries Denied
Crystal Palace left it late to seal a 3-3 draw against Bournemouth at Selhurst Park and they went behind early on as Eli Kroupi crept in to head the opener inside seven minutes before he doubled his and the Cherries tally by firing in from close range for 2-0 on 38 minutes. The hosts hit back with two goals in five minutes as Jean- Phillipe Mateta tapped in from close range on 64 minutes before levelling on 69 minutes by slotting in at the far post. Bournemouth regained the lead with two minutes left of the 90 as Ryan Christie connected to a cross to slot in for 3-2 but their joy was soured deep into added time as Mateta completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot to ensure a share of the points at 3-3.
City Celebrate As Toffees Tumble
Manchester City continued their good form with a 2-0 win over Everton at Etihad Stadium. The hosts struck first on 58 minutes as Erling Haaland connected to a cross to head in for 1-0 and he doubled his and City's tally when he slotted in from close range just five minutes later for 2-0 and the two goals proved to be enough to secure the three points.

The second matchday saw an epic ending with a thriller on Monday night but more on that later as this weekend saw the final promoted side win while two sides hit five in London.
Blues Batter Hammers
Endo Fernandez's effort on 34th minutes made it 3-1 into half time but the points were soon wrapped up by two strikes in four minutes before the hour mark from Moises Caicedo (54) and Trevor Chalobah (58) for a 5-1 victory.
Spurs Continue City Curse
Tottenham Hotspur extended their run of success over Manchester City with a 2-0 win at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. The visitors opened the scoring through Brennan Johnson on 35 minutes before Joao Palhinha doubled the lead just before the interval. The 2-0 lead remained as City were unable to overturn their recent curse of results against Tottenham.
Cherries Claim Wolves Win
Bournemouth bounced back from their opening day defeat with a narrow 1-0 win over Wolves at the Vitality Stadium. The crucial goal came as early as the fourth minute as Marcus Tavernier slotted in for the hosts. Wolves' hopes of a comeback were dented early in the second half as Toti Gomes was sent off on 49 minutes and the hosts held on for the win.

Double Delight For Promoted Duo
After four long years with the magnetic board sitting on the wall ready to be used again, this blog resumes after the hiatus since the 2021-22 Premier League opening weekend. Hopefully, I will be able to do more than the single weekend this 2025-26 Premier League season.
Champions Chomp Cherries
Magpies Held By 10-man Villa
The first dismissal of the season came at Villa Park on Saturday as Ezri Konsa saw red in the 66th minute after pulling back Anthony Gordon but Newcastle were unable to make the man advantage pay off in a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa.
