Gunners Defeat Reds
Both sides went into the game with hopes of continuing heir good form an it was the table topping Arsenal that made the first chance with Rosicky testing Mignolet six minutes in after finding space and firing across goal with the Belgian palming the ball away and soon Henderson attempted a chance at the other end but miscued at the vital moment.
Arsenal opened the scoring in strange fashion as Cazorla connected to Sagna's cross and headed against the post but with the defence still, he collected the rebounded and hit home to break the deadlock.
Liverpool came close to levelling as Toure's header from a Gerrard free-kick was saved by Szczesny but with a flag for offside, the chance meant nothing. Arsenal pushed for a second and Ramsey hit a low drive after combining with Rosicky but the lead stayed at 1-0 into the break.
Coutinho replaced Cissokho as Liverpool pushed for an equaliser and they started the half well as Suarez escaped the defence's notice to ghost into the area but hit off target while moments later, he found space and swept a cross to the far post which was volleyed over by Henderson.
Liverpool's good pressure near came to waste as Giroud beat Skrtel to Toure's pass but luckily for the Slovakian, he hit the side netting and the travelling fans breathed a sigh of relief. The second goal did come for Arsenal just before the hour mark as Ramsey smashed a half-volley that swooped over Mignolet and into the net from 20 yards out.
Moses replace Flanagan as Liverpool needed a miracle to salvage a point and had a great chance to score when Suarez struck a shot against the base of the post from an acute angle, Suarez wasted another good chance in the final moments when he side footed wide of the target as Arsenal held for victory and a five point gap at the top.
