Forest Hopes Cut Down By Blues 

Nottingham Forest extended their poor run with a 3-0 loss to Chelsea at the City Ground in Saturday's early kick-off. The visitors opened the scoring as Josh Acheampong cushioned a header in for 1-0 on 49 minutes and the lead doubled when Pedro Neto's free kick went in to the net just three minutes later. The gloss on the win was added in the 84th minute as Reece James fired in from close range but the Blues afternoon did have a dent with the dismissal of Malo Gusto in the 87th minute. However, the story of the day came after the match as Ange Postecoglou was sacked as Forest manager less than 30 mins after the final whistle. 

Seagulls Soar Against Magpies

Brighton & Hove Albion won the Battle of the Birds as they sealed a 2-1 win over Newcastle United at the AMEX Stadium. The hosts struck first as Danny Welbeck finished off a passing play to score in the 41st minute. The visitors levelled on 76 minutes though with Nick Woltemade flicking in a back-heel from close range for 1-1. The hosts regained the lead though and sealed the win with a second Welbeck goal on 84 minutes as he fired in from the edge of the area for the 2-1 win. 

Clarets Joy Against Leeds

Burnley returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win at Turf Moor against Leeds United. The hosts opened the scoring on 18 minutes as Lesley Ugochukwu flicked in a headed effort for 1-0 before the lead was doubled in the 68th minute as Loum Tchaouna swept in a superb strike from distance for 2-0 and the hosts held on for just their second win of the season. 


Mateta's Matchball As Cherries Denied

Crystal Palace left it late to seal a 3-3 draw against Bournemouth at Selhurst Park and they went behind early on as Eli Kroupi crept in to head the opener inside seven minutes before he doubled his and the Cherries tally by firing in from close range for 2-0 on 38 minutes. The hosts hit back with two goals in five minutes as Jean- Phillipe Mateta tapped in from close range on 64 minutes before levelling on 69 minutes by slotting in at the far post. Bournemouth regained the lead with two minutes left of the 90 as Ryan Christie connected to a cross to slot in for 3-2 but their joy was soured deep into added time as Mateta completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot to ensure a share of the points at 3-3. 


City Celebrate As Toffees Tumble

Manchester City continued their good form with a 2-0 win over Everton at Etihad Stadium. The hosts struck first on 58 minutes as Erling Haaland connected to a cross to head in for 1-0 and he doubled his and City's tally when he slotted in from close range just five minutes later for 2-0 and the two goals proved to be enough to secure the three points. 


Black Cats Purr Against Winless Wolves

Sunderland equalled their tally of home wins from their last top flight season with a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Stadium of Light. The hosts opened the scoring in the 16th minute as Nordi Mukiele fired in his first goal for the club for 1-0 and the lead was doubled late on as the hosts were gifted a second goal with bizarre own goal from Ladislav Krejci who slotted in from the edge of the area for the 2-0 final score. 


Gunners Edge Past Cottagers

Arsenal extended their stay at the top with a narrow 1-0 win away to Fulham at Craven Cottage. A close fought first half saw the sides goalless at the interval before the deadlock was broken on 58 minutes by Leandro Trossard who tapped in at the far post to score the crucial goal to secure the 1-0 victory. 

Spurs Stunned By Victorious Villa

Super Sunday began with Aston Villa securing a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur stadium. A rapid start for the hosts saw Rodrigo Bentancur give them a 1-0 lead inside five minute. Villa hit back in the 37th minute with Morgan Rogers firing in for 1-1 before an equally stunning winner came in the 77th minute from Villa substitute Emiliano Buendia as they sealed the 2-1 win. 

Red Devils Extend Reds Woes 

Liverpool's losing streak extended to four in a row after a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Anfield. The visitors stunned the home crowd with Bryan Mbuemo slotting in inside two minutes for a 1-0 lead that saw Cody Gakpo hit the post three times across the afternoon before levelling on 78 minutes. The winning goal came on 84 minutes as Harry Maguire headed in to seal the 2-1 win for the visitors. 

Bees Burst Hammers Hopes 

The final game of the weekend saw  Brentford extend West Ham United's poor start to the season with a 2-0 win at London Stadium. Igor Thiago continued his scoring streak with the opener on 43 minutes and the gloss on the win came deep in added time as Mathias Jensen struck for 2-0.
